Are you currently confused in choosing between Lowa Tibet Pro GTX and Kenetrek boots? If you are going for a heavy-duty trekking trip, you need a pair of truly reliable boots. You certainly can’t afford the risk of your boots failing, broken down upon meeting harsh and challenging terrains. You need something strong, comfortable, and, if we can still add one more, good-looking. For trekking and mountain hiking, Lowa Tibet Pro GTX and Kenetrek boots are both very popular. However, Kenetrek is usually a little bit more expensive than Lowa Tibet Pro GTX. So, what’s the difference, and which is the one that you should choose?
Lowa Tibet Pro GTX and Kenetrek are two very different boots. Lowa Tibet Pro GTX comes with a 7” shaft, which is pretty tall to provide comfort, fit, and protection, but is not as tall as Kenetrek’s shaft. Both the tongue and the collar are padded for superior comfort, which is obviously needed for long walking and climbing. The upper is made of leather, featuring the waterproof, seamless GoreTex lining. The lacing system features D-ring eyelets for easy and quick speed-lacing. Nobody has enough time to lace their boots, so this feature is very convenient. The sole is made of a synthetic material.
On the other hand, has a significantly taller shaft that ensures maximum protection. The 2.8-mm thick full grain leather upper utilizes a one-piece vamp without seams down the tongue for enhanced resistance to abrasion and waterproofing. The Wind-Tex waterproof breathable, flexible membrane and the Thinsulate insulation ensure that the inside of the boot is as comfortable as one can possibly hope for. The sole is advanced and sophisticated, featuring a 7-mm nylon midsole for enhanced support on a rugged terrain and with heavy loads. The reinforced rubber sole provides extra abrasion resistance, and the lightweight K-Talon outsole delivers exceptional traction.
Kenetrek is extremely rugged, extremely durable. It also looks great. If you are going to a very harsh environment, such as in a hunting trip and mountain hiking, this is your best bet. The inside is very comfortable and breathable. It can protect your feet from almost anything. However, it is indeed quite heavy. Plus, not everybody feels comfortable using shoes with high shafts, so that is also to consider.
Lowa Tibet Pro GTX arguably looks better and more suitable to a wider range of people. The shaft provides nice comfort and a degree of protection. It is also lighter and less tiring to use. However, it is not as rugged, and the thinner sole can be pushed over the limits if you really take it to extreme terrains.
If durability and protection are your main factors, then Kenetrek should be your choice. However, if you are more concerned with comfort and appearance, Lowa Tibet Pro GTX is the way to go.
